Namo Buddha

Namo Buddha is situated 30 kms south-east of Kathmandu valley in Kavre Palanchowk district. The main stupa known as the Dharma Dhatu Chaitya is as important as Swayambhunath or Bouddhanath to Mahayana Buddhists all over the world. According to Divya Avadana, after paying homage to Swayambhunath, Lord Buddha came to Namo Buddha and paid homage to Prince Mahasatwa by bowing his head. Since then, the place where Lord Buddha bowed his head has been considered as one of the most sacred and holiest sanctuaries. Namo Buddha is also famous as the place where Prince Mahasatwa attained “Nirvana” and became one of the Bodhisattavas after he sacrificed his own life by feeding his flesh to save starving tigress and her cubs.
